Wellness and spa vacations in Romania

Health and wellness tourism has received little attention in the past few years. As a result, Romania has emerged as very important destination in Europe for spa vacations. Romania is a home to over a third of Europe's sources of mineral. The health and wellness tourism category majorly focus on spa and wellness services.These days, people overwhelmed by daily stress and they neglect their own health. Romania's major spas includes Mangalia, Covasna, Vatra Dornei, Herculane, Sovata, Ocna Sibiului, Tusnad, Govara, Efforie Nord and many more. Some of them are described as follows:

Covasna

Covasna is an important health and spa resort and it was flourished as a health resort since the 1880's. In 1882 and 1883, the mineral water from Covasna won gold medal at the exhibition from Trieste.

The mineral water of this place is recommended for several diseases. These diseases include heart and blood vessel trouble, skin infections, disease of endocrine glands and alimentary canal.

Sovata

It was first mentioned in a document of 1597 but recorded as a resort in 1850. It is located at the 1,600 ft in a stunning forested region of Transylvania. Bear Lake is a result of a geological event in 1875 and it is unique in Europe. The water of this lake is salty and this is celebrated for its therapeutic effects. Nut lake, Black lake, Red lake and Green lake are the other four salty lakes of this place and Sovata became one of the most fashionable spas of the country. During the interwar period, the Romanian Royal Family visited it several times.

Baile Felix

It is the largest health resort of the country and it was established in the 18th century. The resort hosts several mineral springs with thermal, calcic, sodic and sulphuric. The facilities of the two resorts offer treatment of rheumatism and neurological and other gynecological diseases. Apart from traditional treatments, the modern medical base has at its disposal various facilities for procedures involving electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, massage, paraffin packing and other water treatments.
