With a present worth of $439 billion market, wellness tourism industry is all set to grow 50% more by the year 2017. This is a figure revealed by GWTC (Global Wellness Tourism Congress). In order to help the nations grow their wellness tourism, GWTC held the first roundtable conference in London off lately. The other two-roundtable conferences will probably take place this year itself. Several suggestions to bring a growth in wellness tourism were put forward in the conference. The various suggestions are:
Do not use the term 'Wellness':
The participants in the conference agreed that travelers on an average do not relate to the term "wellness." They suggested that the wellness activities and the benefits should be promoted without using the term "wellness tourism." Nobody is interested in hearing about health, so make the trip to wellness destinations to be the most attractive thing for the prospect customers. For instance, instead of saying- come to Malaysia to achieve better health- say- take a trip to Malaysia, relax, and recharge your batteries. The better it sounds, the better it sells.
Affordability and Accessibility:
In order to seek outstanding growth in wellness tourism, the affordability factor needs to be highlighted. While promoting various wellness retreats, do not forget to mention the cost effectiveness of the whole trip.
The Number Usage:
Roundtable participants encouraged each other to use numbers from the data given in GWTC's 2013 Global Wellness Tourism Economy report that shows the benefits generated by wellness tourism every year. Like every year wellness travel generates 11.7 million jobs, $439 billion in expenditures, and $1.3 trillion's world economic impact.
Promote Lack of Seasonality:
Roundtable participants noted that seasonality has no impact on wellness tourism, as it has on many other travel businesses. Promote this point and earn revenue throughout the year.Classify Wellness Tourism: Another tactic suggested for a better growth perspectives in wellness tourism is to classify wide ranging wellness tourism into small categories like-yoga retreats, weight loss programs and hot spring destinations- so that the travelers can identify the places easily as per their requirements
Promote Unique 'Wellness Resources':
People want out of the world and exclusive experiences. Wellness tourism should bring their unique wellness retreats and nowhere else, found benefits to the travelers notice in a very clever way.
Search adept people for job:
Round table participants decided to take help of government for the provision of people whom they can hire to work at wellness destinations.
