Holotropic breathwork is an alternative form of medicine, which makes the use of specific set of activities and breathing movements. This therapy is designed in order to allow the body to experience deeper levels of breathing than normal breathing. The aim of Holotropic Breathwork therapy is to using the breath in order to reach the higher levels of self-awareness and promote healing. During the therapy, breath is used to invigorate the body in a relaxed environment along with music. However, the therapy is performed in independently conducted sessions, individually and in small teams. Each session may last at least for one hour.During the session, therapist makes the participants lie on their mat with their eyes closed and music is played in the room. Then the participants focus on their breath with the rhythm of music and try to reach the states of self-awareness. Therapists claim that this state is beneficial to give the participant an internal experience and stimulate the healing process, guides the inner confidence and intelligence.
