The working principle of this therapy states that regular sun exposure and passing time slows down the rate of exfoliation because exfoliation is the process in which the dead skin cells over the skin are replaced by the new and healthy cells. In case if there is no exfoliation, the dead skin cells remain on the surface of the skin and this will make the skin appear dull and damaged. Thus, the main role of AHAs is to function as an exfoliation agent that helps in the removal of dead cells and make the way for newer and healthier cells.However, redness, irritation or slightly burning sensation, itching and pain are some possible side effects with the use of AHAs.
