A Wellness Professionals Wellness Destination

So where do the wellness professional go to recoup? Well, I think down time is much like fitness and wellness, you go with what motivates you. In keeping with my definition of wellness - peace for the body, peace for the mind and ultimately peace for the spirit, one of favorite all time destinations is Riviera Maya Mexico.

Riviera Maya Mexico is located approx 40 miles south of Cancun. It is near Chich n Itzá, one of the world's new seven wonders and entrenched in the completely fascinating world of the Mayans, whose mythology, science and culture are still so present. It's not hard to understand why I love the taste of it all: the delicate jungle, the alabaster white sand beaches, the crystal clear turquoise water and the mouth watering fine cuisine. It is simply rejuvenating.

Riviera Maya Mexico~ A Wellness Lifestyle

A wellness destination must be all inclusive of nature, water and of course the opportunity to continue, and if not, expand a wellness lifestyle. One of the best wellness destination hotels has been the Fairmont Mayakoba in Riviera Maya. While the Mayakoba certainly has all the bells and whistles typical of the name Fairmont, what truly speaks to me at the Mayakoba are the natural surroundings, genuine friendliness of the people, opportunity to expand my wellness routine and of course it being all paired perfectly with the ancestry and spirituality of the Mayan people. The resort certainly can cater to you if you choose to do nothing at all. However, if you are continuing your wellness lifestyle, things like getting to the water itself affords a fitness trip on its own because in keeping with delicate ecological balance of Riviera Maya,

The Fairmont has positioned their accommodations approx  mile from the waterfront. A quick run to the beach amidst the jungle like path puts you deep in nature and offers a great way to start the day. While at the hotel, of course there is a well equipped gym and the impressive Willow Stream spa that offers a host of wellness personal services. Top it off...the hotel also offers a delicious spa menu to keep you on track during your stay and take some of the hard choices out of vacation food.

Healing for the Soul

Ok ok, I know it sounds great and you are already packing right?

But what makes the difference between a vacation and a true wellness rejuvenation? The peace of spirit that should follow. The Mayan people, their spirit and rituals are all soothing for the soul. My recommendation is to visit during the Mexican holiday, El Dia de Muerto. Sounds ghoulish, but in fact,

El Dia de Muerto is a beautiful holiday that focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have passed. The celebration occurs on November 2 in connection with the Catholic holidays of All Saints' Day (November 1) and All Souls' Day (November 2).The surroundings coupled with the spirituality, the opportunities to explore and learn, make Riviera Maya this wellness professional's destination of choice. Hope to see you there!
